Baking Gingerbread Cookies for friends and family with their names on them.
Spending Thanksgiving Day with our family. After dinner we all go to our small town for the Christmas celebration of turning on the lights. The stores are open that night so you can shop for Christmas. Music is playing. It is one of our happiest times of the season.
Opening one gift on Christmas Eve with the family, having hot chocolate or apple cider. Kids going wild.
My daughter and grandson come over to decorate our Christmas tree. She loves telling our 14 year old grandson about each ornament.
Every year we fill brown paper lunch bags with peanuts, a piece of fruit and a chocolate bar to give to guests when they leave our home. This was done at church on Christmas Eve when I was growing up. Now we do it throughout the holiday season.
Attending the beautiful midnight mass!
All the women meeting at one house two weeks before Christmas to make homemade gnocchi, raviolis, and pepper onion sausage bread for Christmas dinner. Men take the kids out for the day. We have so much fun with a little vino in the mix. LOL
Every Christmas Eve day we go out for Pizza. We have been doing this for 36=years.
Singing Christmas carols at the Christmas Eve service.
The Whole family reads The Polar Express on Christmas Eve before going to bed. Each person reads 1 page and hands it to the person next to them. We all sign the book under the date every year.
We would put up the nativity and leave baby Jesus away. Before bed on Christmas Eve one of my children would set baby Jesus in the manger. Each year the kids rotated who would have that honor.
We would bake a cake for Christmas day and sing Happy Birthday, Jesus to celebrate his birth.
The family gathers at our house on Christmas Eve for a big lasagna dinner. But we also celebrate our English heritage by having the Christmas poppers. Everyone wears their tissue crown and we play with the toys that fly out of them. Then we read the jokes that come with them. Lots of fun!
We have a family Christmas breakfast at our house every year.
Baking and decorating sugar cookies for the family. Have done it every year for almost 45 years!
Drinking hot chocolate and eating snacks while watching Christmas movies.
24 hours of A Christmas Story on the tv!! 😂
My favorite Christmas ritual is going to Midnight Mass
At Christmas I love making cookies with my grandkids and decorating them.
I love watching hallmark Christmas movies and eating popcorn.
Staying up all night and wrapping gifts! And eating Santa’s cookies and milk. Then after the kids wake up…they must wait for the parents to get up to open presents.
My husband reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas with my son and niece, and giving him his Christmas pajamas as his Christmas Eve gift. (My husband says watching Die Hard and Scrooged and Christmas Vacation… lolol)
Baking chocolate chip cookies from scratch
Our family time
I love these giveaways!
My favorite Christmas ritual is making homemade sticky buns the night before Christmas and enjoying them the next morning. I only make them once a year and everyone looks forward to them. Makes my heart happy
Having cranberry bread and eggnog with cognac while opening gifts
Drinking a nightcap of eggnog after midnight Christmas mass
Baking cookies and decorating them with my sons, Corey and Jon.
Baking Christmas goodies with daughters and giving them to friends
Baking my mother’s recipes for Christmas Cookies, I know she’s right with me and I think of her non-stop as i bake and gift to others.
Baking my Mom’s sugar cookie recipe with my daughter & granddaughter. It’s a marathon day of cookie baking! We decorate with colored sugars instead of frosting, like Mom did, & share with friends & family!
My favorite Christmas ritual is going to the 11:00 service at our church; love singing O Holy Night by candlelight.
So many rituals! I enjoy decorating and the joy it brings my kids. From the house decor to the tree. My love all things Christmas!
Leaving on all the Christmas lights all over the house all night on Christmas Eve.
Since I am alone now I really don’t have any rituals left😢.
SOOO many rituals I’m not sure Christmas can happen without them but one of my favorites is making basic Christmas cut out cookies. I think it is becoming a thing of the past, but I love it
Jo Ann Greene
The only ritual I have is putting up the Christmas tree and lights around my house and some baking. My favorite part of Christmas is being with my adult kids and grandkids.
